A decision by union members over whether to accept an offer of proposals from the Offshore Contractors Association (OCA) will be made today.
Both Unite and GMB workers will vote yes or no after months of talks between representatives from both sides.
It comes after the GMB union wrote to members last month and urged them to accept a new offer from the OCA, which has 10 full members, including Petrofac, Wood Group PSN and Stork.
Members have been asked “Do you accept the 2015 OCA proposals?” and the ballot papers are set to be counted at headquarters in Aberdeen today.
In May the trade unions shelved plans to ballot members on strike action over changes to North Sea working conditions after the OCA tabled an improved offer.
Employees will work a maximum of three weeks under the proposals, and it is expected an independent review into the new shifts will take place after 12 months.
The initial agreement also states there will be a 3% rise in sickness pay for offshore workers. They will also be given two weeks holiday from work time as well as two taken from field break.
The decision will be announced just a day after Shell confirmed it would be moving to a three on, three off shift pattern in line with a number of companies including Chevron and BP.
An RMT offshore energy branch meeting is set to take place tomorrow in Glasgow following the OCA referendum ballot.
Members have been urged to attend the meeting at the Premier Inn in Glasgow , before “deciding how we react to the OCA decision and the industry cuts agenda”.
