The chief executive of Eni has met with the President of Nigeria to express condolences over an explosion in the country in June which killed 14 people.
Claudio Descalzi met with Mohammadu Buhari for the first time since the President was elected earlier this year.
Eni said the meeting was both “friendly and constructive” and was an opportunity for the chief executive to update the Nigerian leader on the development of both oil and gas resources in the
country.
The company was also said to have reinforced its commitment to the development of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria while President Buhari expressed his appreciation for Eni’s continued engagement in the country in the current “challenging environment”.
Eni has been present in Nigeria since 1962.
