Statoil has made a small oil discovery in the Oseberg field in the North Sea.
The company said the well was drilled around seven kilometres west of the Oseberg Sor-field, 150km west of Bergen.
The preliminary tests carried out have estimated the find to be in the range of between one and two million standard cubic metres of recoverable oil equivalent.
Statoil said it is the 26th exploration well to be drilled in production licence 104.
The licence was awarded in the ninth licensing round.
Earlier this week Statoil completed a milestone task for its landmark North Sea Mariner project.
The firm successfully installed Mariner’s jacket, the largest ever produced by the Norwegian operator, on the North Sea’s seabed.
