Aberdeen-based oil service company Global SCS yesterday achieved a notable first in Scotland’s energy industry.
The firm, which is part of Global Energy Group, was presented with a hat-trick of Investors in People (IIP) awards and became the first business in the sector north of the border to hold all three.
Global SCS now has a gold accreditation to reflect its commitment to staff as well as recognition for both investment in young people and the health and wellbeing of its workforce.
The gold award puts it among the top 7% of IIP clients.
Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing visited the Global SCS offices to meet staff and hand over the awards to managing director Tommy Hillock.
Also at the ceremony was Peter Russian, chief executive of IIP Scotland, who said achieving the three awards was testimony to the “fantastic” people practices that Global SCS has put in place.
Global SCS, whose roots go back to 1997, has a regular 170-strong workforce at home and abroad. There are overseas offices in Houston in the US, Perth and Brisbane in Australia, Stavanger in Norway and Dubai in the Middle East.
