Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded an engineering contract by Felguera IHI for the expansion of the Zeebrugge Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal in Belgium.
The contract will be delivered over the next 15 months with the company’s scope including detailed engineering of the boil-off gas recovery system and associated facilities.
The LNG Terminal is owned and operated by Fluxys LNG from Belgium.

The appointed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor is a joint venture comprising Duro Felguera Oil & Gas, Felguera IHI and Balzola.
The overall EPC expansion will consist of the design, construction and start-up of a boil-off gas recovery system and fifth LNG storage tank of the plant, which will be one of the largest in the world with a capacity of 180,000 Nm3.
Speaking at Offshore Europe last week, the company’s chief executive Samir Brikho said North Sea operators needed to trust service providers to deliver standardised solutions when working on projects to extends the life of North Sea assets.
