Industry body Step Change in Safety has been recognised for its contribution to the energy sector at the 2015 Northern Star Business Awards, held in Aberdeen.
Step Change was commended for its unique make-up which brings together the workforce, employing companies, unions and regulators. Judges were impressed by Step Change’s work with safety representatives and the cost saving solutions for the Civil Aviation Authority’s passenger size recommendations.
Les Linklater, executive director for Step Change in Safety, said: “This award is for everyone who works in the North Sea and recognises the efforts of all those who improve the safety of the UKCS.
“Since its launch 18 years ago, Step Change has become a global leader in offshore and onshore safety, and is a vital part of influencing collaboration across the UK’s oil and gas industry.”
