An offshore worker has captured life offshore on Christmas day.
Chief officer Graeme Hately, normally alternates each year between working offshore during the holiday period, and being able to spend time at home with his family.
The film was taken last year showing raffle prizes being taken to staff on a nearby platform.
Earlier this year, Graeme captured incredible footage of orca whales in the North Sea.
He said:”The footage was taken over the course of Christmas Eve into Christmas day in 2014. I’m home this year for Christmas but normally work every other year.
“Prizes from a raffle were being taken to the nearby platform, everyone always wins something, so everyone has a gift on Christmas morning.”
Graeme has been able in the past few years to enjoy opening presents at the same time as his wife hundreds of miles away onshore.
The oil worker said the vast changes in technology had really improved workers chances to speak to loved ones on Christmas day.
He said: “Being away from home affects some more than others, especially if they’re just newly married or it’s their first holiday offshore.
“It does help a lot to have improvements in technology. When I first started the job you would have to join a big long queue and you’d have to say ‘can you say that again’ down the phone 10 times.”
