Oil major Chevron is making headcount reduction from its staff in Australia as it looks to streamline costs across the globe.
The company previously announced it would be cutting between 6,000 and 7,000 jobs around the world as it looks to combat low oil prices.
Chevron had previously revealed it was in consultation over jobs from its North Sea operations earlier this year.
It’s understood employees in Perth were told of the move this week.
A Chevron spokeswoman said: “With our transition from constructing major projects to operating them, there is a natural decline in the workforce profile over the coming years.
“These changes have been occurring for several months now.”
