Under the contract with Avanzia & Initec Energia, AFW will deliver two HRSGs to be installed on Siemens STG6-8000H gas turbines.
The generators will recover exhaust ‘waste’ heat from the gas turbines to generate steam for additional power, improving the overall plant efficiency without increasing the fuel consumption. Commercial operation of the plant is scheduled for December 2017.
The contract requires 65% minimum national content for the generator supply.
Group President of AFW’s Global Power Group Gary Nedelka, said: “This is a significant award for Amec Foster Wheeler in the Mexican power market and it once again demonstrates how we can combine our global reach with local sourcing to meet local content requirements.”
The value of the project has not been disclosed.
