The role technology can play in helping oil and gas firms to cut costs will be a key element of the SPE Intelligent Energy (IE) expo taking place in Aberdeen next year.
The theme of next year’s conference, which will be held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) from 6-8 September 2016, is New Horizons: Intelligent Energy in a Changing World.
Visitors from around the world are expected to gather in Europe’s energy capital as the latest smart technologies are to be showcased at the biennial event.
The conference programme chair is Asgeir Drøivoldsmo, principal research scientist for the Man and Technology Organisation (MTO) and safety sector at the Institute for Energy Technology in Norway.
“This is the seventh SPE Intelligent Energy conference and it is of more relevance for the industry than ever before,” said Drøivoldsmo.
“The 2016 conference will showcase the latest trends and opportunities in big data, cloud computing and intelligent systems.
“For the oil and gas sector, it has never been a better time to leverage smart technology and business practices to improve production efficiency and reduce costs,” he added.
The programme will consist of panels, invited papers, open discussion sessions and technical sessions to promote energetic debates on key topics touching upon the current situation and the IE solutions.
The call for papers for the 2016 SPE Intelligent Energy has been extended until 20 January 2016.
As in previous editions, the 2016 conference will be produced by SPE and will comprise of a three day technical programme with an estimated 80 papers covering topics including technology, integrated operations, leadership, cyber-security and big data.
