Total has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of a new senior vice president.
Philippe Baptiste began his career at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in 1999.
Prior to his new role, Baptiste was appointed chief research officer at the CNRS.
He has written a number of books and several hundred papers and articles and led a number of research and development projects with software developers and industry-leading manufacturers.
The announcement comes on the same day as Total revealed first gas from Laggan-Tormore.
Total’s new UK managing director, Elisabeth Proust , said the firm’s £3.5billion West of Shetland investment was a much needed reminder that there was still everything to play for in UK energy sector – regardless of oil price.
