International oilfield services firm Expro yesterday announced the appointment of a new chief executive to replace Charles Woodburn, who will leave in April.
Aberdeen and Reading-based Expro has promoted Mike Jardon, 46, from within its own ranks to fill the void created by Mr Woodburn’s departure.
Mr Jardon, who joined Expro in 2011 as chief operating officer, is expected to remain in Houston in his new job.
Over the course of his career, Mr Jardon, who hails from Colorado, has also had spells at tubular steel firm Vallourec and oilfield service company Schlumberger, where he held various senior roles.
Expro chairman Sir George Buckley said: “Mike has been instrumental in delivering the exceptional results we have seen from Expro in recent years.
“His experience, leadership skills and passion for the business will ensure a seamless transition for the company.”
Mr Woodburn, 44, who has been based in Reading during his time at the helm of Expro, is moving to defence and aerospace giant BAE Systems.
He will become BAE’s chief operating officer and is expected to become chief executive when Ian King retires from the role in the next year to 18 months.
Expro employs more than 4,500 people across 50 countries, including nearly 700 in Aberdeen.
The firm’s north-east contingent used to be even larger but it recently announced plans to axe about 50 positions in the region due to the oil price rout.
In a separate management reshuffle, px Group, which is about to take over as the new operator of Total’s St Fergus gas plant, has hired a safety, health, environment and risk management director.
Mark Kenrick, 57, takes up the newly-created post about six months after leaving Lotte Chemical UK, where he most recently held the chief executive’s role.
He will work out of px Group’s headquarters in Stockton-on-Tees, but is likely to be spending a lot time in the north-east of Scotland over the coming weeks.
Px will operate St Fergus, near Peterhead, and the associated Frigg UK and Shetland Island Regional Gas Export System pipelines on behalf of North Sea Midstream Partners, starting next month.
