Statoil employees been awarded bonuses of more than NOK50,000 on their average pay.
Staff at the company were told of the move today.
Last year, the average salary in Statoil was around one million kroner.
A spokesman for the company said the organisation had performed well in the last year in comparison to competitors despite the global decline in oil price.
However, he added the bonus received was less than normal given the challenging market place.
The announcement comes on the same day it was revealed Statoil and Shell had decided to put current development plans for the Bressay field on hold.
In January, COSL said a drilling rig on which an oil worker died after it was hit by a huge wave during a North Sea storm had said it could find no design fault.
