A former Shell chief executive has been elected to Statoil’s board of directors.
Jeroen van der Veer ran the oil major Shell for five years from 2004 to 2009 and continued as a non-executive director with the company until 2013.
He began his role with Shell in 1971 and has experience within all sectors of the oil and gas business.
Van der Veer’s election comes into effect from tomorrow and will last until the ordinary election of shareholder-elected members to the board of directors next year.
Jeroen van der Veer was elected in accordance with the proposal from the nomination committee.
