The Aberdeen oil worker who achieved global notoriety after posing with a would-be hijacker on an Egyptian airliner could be set to appear on Celebrity Big Brother.
Safety auditor Ben Innes, 27, is being lined up by TV executives who are keen to tap in to his “quirky personality” thinking he will be a hit in the Channel 5 show,
according to news reports.
He became in internet sensation after taking a ‘selfie’ with Seif Eldin Mustafa, who forced the EgyptAir plane to land in Cyprus after claiming he was wearing a suicide vest.
Innes, whose photo went viral, said he “threw caution to the wind while trying to stay cheerful in the face of adversity”
Last year’s Channel 5 show was hit by a series of controversies, from an infamous bust-up between Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace and Farrah Abraham, which saw police called to the studios, to Winston Mckenzie’s homophobic slur.
Communications regulator Ofcom also received more than 200 complaints after the show decided to air the hysterical reaction to David Bowie’s death in the house.
