Oil major BP’s chief executive Bob Dudley has defended his £14million pay deal for the first time since it was disputed by shareholders.
The boss rejected calls for him to give up his bonus, which critics had slammed following company job losses and challenges amid the oil price decline.
In an exclsuive interview with the MailOnline he said: “When you look at it carefully, my pay and bonus is less this year than last year.”
He added that the total had been misconstrued by “pension payments”.
Dudley said: “Just look at the facts”.
When asked whether he had considered giving up any of the money he said he had not.
Earlier today, Centrica’s boss Iain Conn faced investor anger over his £3million pay deal.
