The Press and Journal’s Gold Awards, in association with Aberdeen Asset Management, are back and better than ever.
Now in its second year, the North Sea’s must-attend night recognises the companies and individuals, who continue to forge a path ahead for the sector, despite varying headwinds.
Editor-in-chief Damian Bates said: “We launched the Gold Awards to celebrate the North Sea’s milestone 50th anniversary. As the sector has entered its next chapter, so has the Gold Awards.
“We’ve revamped the categories, introducing best small business, collaboration and our first ever renewables award, as well as simplifying the entry process.
“There’s no doubt this past year has been challenging, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been without its own success stories – Total’s first gas from its flagship Laggan-Tormore project is a stellar example of that.
“The Gold Awards celebrates the North Sea and surrounding region’s resilience and fortitude even in the face of adversity, and also serves as platform to remind of us what’s to still to come, like Dana Petroleum’s Western Isles, Statoil’s Mariner and Enquest’s Kraken development.
“Please join us as we celebrate the companies and people who work so tirelessly to ensure this region still has a fantastic story to tell.”
Martin Gilbert, chief executive of title sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management, said: “This is a major celebration of the oil and gas sector and we are delighted to continue our association with these awards which credit the essential role that the industry has for the north-east economy.
“By entering these awards, it’s a chance for companies to take stock and reflect on their achievements as they look to the future. Companies that are shortlisted, as well as those that win, raise their profile can bring benefits to their businesses by enhancing their reputation among existing and potential clients.”
Aberdeen Asset Management is also the sponsor of the Hall of Fame category, which will be decided by an esteemed panel of industry judges.
Last year, renowned petroleum economist Professor Alex Kemp became the first inductee into the Gold Awards Hall of Fame.
This year’s entrant will be someone who has demonstrated a proven track record of being an industry force for good. Dedication to the sector’s success, investment in its people and an appreciation for the wider community will all be considered.
Last year, Wood Group, Statoil and Apache North Sea all took home top honours at the glittering event.
The award ceremony and dinner will take place on Thursday 8th September, 2016 at The Marcliffe Hotel. A table of 10 costs £1,500 + VAT. The website, www.pandjgoldawards.com, is live for bookings.
