Three Bristow S92 helicopters have arrived by ship from the Falklands to Southampton where they were discharged at port before making the flight to Aberdeen to bolster the company’s fleet following the grounding of the Airbus Super Pumas.
The S-92s completed the 8,000 mile journey from the South Atlantic on board a ship owned by MJS Shipping, who posted the video on social media.
Bristow confirmed the Sikorskys had been on a year-long contract in the Falklands and had been shipped back as scheduled and not as a direct response to the grounding of the the Airbus Super Puma fleet following the fatal air crash in Norway in April that claimed the lives of 13 people.
The three Bristow aircraft are expected to take up duties in the North Sea after their arrival in Aberdeen, which is expected this week.
Last month a Bristow helicopter returned from operations in Nigeria as the grounding of EC225s affected operations in the North Sea.
