First Subsea has won a contract from Shell to supply mooring line connectors for its Appomattox development.
The semi-submersible four-column production platform will be moored in 7,200 feets of water using Ballgrab subsea mooring connectors.
The company is the only manufacturer of offshore mooring connectors to acheive ABS design approval for the design and manufacture of large-scale R4 grade forging over 5600,in diameter.
These are the largest diameter forgings to have received the approval.
