A video of mass transport of Super Puma helicopters leaving Aberdeen has gone viral on social media.
The footage was posted by oil worker Neil Cran has been viewed more than 66,000 times since it was posted online.
It shows a number of helicopters been transported on lorries out of Europe’s oil and gas capital.
Posting the video online, Cran said: “A welcome sight for all offshore workers……Puma / SuperPuma helicopters leaving Aberdeen heading south hopefully never to return.”
Offshore workers have called for Super Pumas to be taken out of use on North Sea helicopter flights after a number of incidents in recent years.
In April, 13 people were killed when a CHC-operated flight from Statoil’s Gullfaks B field to Bergen crashed.
The fleet has been grounded globally as investigations continue in Norway into the cause of the fatal crash more than two months ago.
One comment on the post from Andy McGuire said: “Travelling home last Tuesday, just outside Perth, we seen 2 X US registered S92’s on trailers heading up to Aberdeen. Hopefully replacing them all.”
