The families of two men who were electrocuted while working on an oil well in Texas two years ago are suing three energy companies.
According to reports, a wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed in a Dallas Court.
The papers allege three companies created an “ultra-hazardous” work environment by placing a power line next to an oil well.
Two of the men killed were electrocuted while another man was severely shocked but survived.
The families of the deceased men, Laban Robokoff and Harvey McKinney, filed a suit against Sharyland Utilities, Quantam Resources Management and Tessco Energy Services.
Harvey McKinney, 38 and Robokoff, 26, had been working on the oil well owned by Quantum in Colorado City in August 2014.
McKinney’s brother Steve McKinney, their father Doyle McKinney and David Wright were also at the work site on the same day.
The men had been tasked with removing an electric pump from the oil well.
To complete the work the mean had to back up a truck with a crane close to the well, then attach a winch line to the pump and lift it off the well.
Regulations normally require all power lines to be at least 10feet from an oil well.
However, it has been alleged the power lines and oil well were located in such a way to make it “impossible” to work on them farther than 10 feet away, according to the families’ attorney.
