Statoil has released a video showing the installation of the final “mega-block” for its Aasta Hansteen platform.
Statoil said the Aasta Hansteen is the world’s largest spar-platform, and will be the first in Norway.
Its substructure is 200metres long, 50metres in diameter and weighs about 45,000 tonnes.
The final block – which weighed in at 4,500tonnes, was installed this summer by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.
The platform is slated to come on stream in the Norwegian Sea late in 2018.
