Amec Foster Wheeler has vowed to “vigorously” defend itself against allegations it was to blame for cost overruns and delays on a Texan client’s project.
Enterprise Products has filed a lawsuit against Amec in Texas relating to the propane dehydrogenation unit in Mont Belvieu.
In line with a contract signed in 2013, Amec carried out engineering, procurement and construction work on the project.
Amec said it was not a fixed-price contract. The principle terms were for payment of hourly rates with an estimate for the date of completion, the firm said.
Amec said in a statement: “The contract we signed with Enterprise allocated risk on timing and cost to them and this legal process appears to be an attempt to avoid the terms they signed up to in 2013.
“We consider these proceedings to be misconceived and we intend to vigorously defend these claims.”
