An Aberdeen-based oil and gas engineer has launched an online fashion business – and aims to recruit budding logistics talent in the region to support the venture’s growth.
Elombor Izzi set up Audacious Style in May to sell fashion online aimed at 18 to 30 year old women.
The firm began to expand its team in June with the appointment of Catriona Donnelly, who graduated from Nescol college with a HND in textiles. She is responsible for buying and wholesale within the business as well as social media.
The fledgling firm has further plans to add to their workforce as trade increases, and Mr Izzi predicts it could outgrow its current premises at Deemouth Business Centre within the next year.
The fashion entrepreneur plans to expand the site’s current 74-piece product line to 500 by May 2017.
Prior to launching Audacious Style, Mr Izzi spent eight years in the oil and gas industry, starting up as an engineer at Production Service Network (now Wood Group PSN) and ending at
ConocoPhillips as a consultant. He was also involved in a finance company investing in sectors including oil and gas where his entrepreneurial spirit was sparked, he said.
Although there’s a clear difference between the two industries, Mr Izzi said he gained valuable experience during his previous career: “I was really blessed to work with some great managers and learned from them the importance of integrity, innovation and leadership. These values are essential to growing a lasting company that can adapt to a such a fast-moving marketplace.”
