Workers from a north-east gas terminal have tested their endurance in an effort to raise more than £12,000 for charity.
Brian Dickson and Allan Morrice from the St Fergus gas works tackled a 600-mile bicycle ride from Aberdour to the Outer Hebrides.
Colleague Norman Cunningham challenged himself with a two-day, 48-mile mountain marathon at Cannich known as The Highlander.
The Ellon man, who ran with friend Ryan Gordon from Stonehaven, raised £6,266 to rebuild a Nepalese school destroyed in an earthquake.
Meanwhile Mr Dickson and Mr Morrice, from Inverallochy and New Aberdour respectively, have handed over £6,400 to the Friends of Anchor for the care of cancer patients at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Mr Dickson said: “The highlights of the journey were the coast road up to Tarbert, with the huge white sandy beaches, bright blue water and mountains in the background.
“We stayed there for a couple of nights and the cooked breakfasts and pub suppers were a real treat after all the cereal bars and dehydrated camping food.”
And Mr Cunningham added: “My reason for taking on this challenge was to support my daughter’s school, which is fundraising to rebuild Sidhartha Primary School in Nepal. It was sadly destroyed by a devastating earthquake in 2015.”
The St Fergus workers were supported by terminal operator PX Group. The company donated £6,000 towards the causes.
