Video footage shows fires raging yesterday at a refinery owned by Italian oil and gas firm Eni.
The firm said the fire had broken out at its Eni Slurry Technology (EST) plant at the Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi refinery near Milan at 4pm.
Eni said no one had been injured in the blaze and that the EST plant had been shut down to isolate it from the rest of the refinery.
In its most recent update, at 9pm yesterday, Eni said firefighters were “completing the operations necessary to put out the latest hotbeds”.
