Maersk has provided a whistle-stop tour of its latest rig, which it describes as the world’s biggest jack-up.
Garry Jones, electrical commissioning manager at Maersk Drilling, gives viewers a quick look around the jack-up and its facilities, including the gym and cabins.
Maersk Invincible is the last of four ultra-harsh environment jack-ups ordered for the Danish firm’s fleet.
The first three were built by Keppel FELS shipyard.
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in South Korea built the Maersk Invincible.
The rig will be sent out to the Norwegian North Sea in the second quarter of this year to start work on its five-year deal with AkerBP, a tie-up between BP’s Norwegian division and Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA.
It will carry of plugging and abandonment work on the Valhall field.
