Norwegian energy company Statoil has appointed Jon Erik Reinhardsen as the new chair of its board of directors.
He replaces Øystein Løseth who had informed the nomination committee that he did not wish to stand for re-election in 2017, as he seeks a return to an operational position.
Jon Erik Reinhardsen has been the chief executive of Petroleum Geo-Services since 2008.
He will leave that position on 31 August this year and will begin his role as chair on 1 September.
Roy Franklin was re-elected as deputy chair and will serve as the acting chair in an interim period until 31 August.
