It is necessary to complete the training before going offshore.
The simulated ditching is carried out with a hydraulically controlled lift which can rotate through 360 degrees.
Like an offshore helicopter, the simulator has windows which can be ejected to allow a person to swim through the gap should the chopper end up in the sea.
