A fledgling independent oil and gas service company has found a new home, won its first major contract and expanded within months of start-up.
TEMS International, a drilling fluid systems specialist, recently moved into 970sq ft of leased office space in Torridon House on Regent Quay in Aberdeen.
It previously operated from serviced office accommodation in Union Street.
The firm’s new contract – worth an undisclosed sum – is a two-year deal that will see it carry out environmental and regulatory compliance and drilling waste processing and treatment work at an onshore oil and gas waste processing facility in Tanzania. Expansion has seen the original five-strong team at TEMS (Turnkey Environmental Management Services) grow to seven plus three consultants through a merger with fellow Aberdeen firm Team CB, which delivered solids control, water treatment and tank cleaning services.
Team CB founder Colin Bruce is now international business development manager at TEMS.
A spokesman for the enlarged company said no money changed hands in the takeover.
TEMS was launched earlier this year with two shareholders, Bill Walkingshaw and Marcovinicio Vallarino, each having a 50% stake.
The firm’s services cover rig audits, drilling fluid systems management and optimisation, waste management programme planning and tank cleaning.
They are aimed at improving the performance of drilling systems, while reducing costs and achieving environmental and regulatory compliance.
The Tanzanian deal sees three of the team working onsite in east Africa for the next two years. There are options for the contract to be extended beyond the initial scope and duration of the work.

“Having specialised in environmental waste and water treatment services, they deepen our knowledgebase in that area.”
TEMS, which is also targeting work in the UK, US and Asia, has received cash and other support from economic development agencies Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International.
