A worker on an Aberdeen firm’s drilling ship has died on board.
Stena Drilling says the incident on its Drillmax was not work-related.
The vessel is currently docked at the Spanish port of Las Palmas.
A spokesman for the company said: “Stena Drilling Limited regret to confirm that earlier today a member of crew on board the Stena Drillmax was taken ill and despite receiving medical attention from the doctor on board, sadly passed away.
“The incident was not work related.
“The relevant authorities have been advised.
“The Stena Drillmax is currently in the port of Las Palmas, Spain.
“The company wish to extend their deepest condolences to family and friends at this very sad time.”
