Norwegian oil firm Statoil might be about to set a new ‘unofficial’ world record for the fastest construction of a platform topside.
Built at the Samsung yard on Geoje island in South Korea, the construction of the Johan Sverdrup Riser topside has taken just 19 months, according to Statoil.
Fully assembled the Riser weighs in at 23,000 tonnes.
The topside has set sail for Stavanger, Norway.
