Amazing footage has emerged of a crane vessel lifting foundations for the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm project.
The Asian Hercules III vessel sailed into Dundee mid-March following the 1,800-tonne steel jacket foundations’ arrival from Newcastle.
The structures were transported to Peterhead by barge before Asian Hercules installed them in Aberdeen Bay.
The wind farm is the first to deploy the foundations at commercial scale, with each of the 11 steel jacket foundations weighing in at almost ten Boeing 747s.
It will generate the equivalent of 70% of Aberdeen’s domestic electricity demand.
