The man who steered Centrica’s energy division through its takeover of Aberdeen-based oil and gas company Venture Production nearly nine years ago is to retire.
Mark Hanafin – previously managing director of Centrica Energy and now chief executive of Centrica’s business division – will leave next March.
Group chief executive Iain Conn said: “Mark was a major influence on Centrica’s strategic review in 2015 and has been an invaluable member of my team since I joined the group at the end of 2014, providing wise advice and support to me and to the Centrica executive team overall.”
Mr Hanafin joined Centrica in 2008 as boss of its Aberdeen-based exploration and production arm, which took over Venture the year after.
