A team from Bristow Helicopters will brave freezing temperatures tomorrow night for Aberdeen’s Sleep in the Park fundraiser.
Charity Social Bite, which aims to eradicate homelessness in Scotland, has organised events taking place across the country tomorrow.
A fourteen-strong team from Bristow and Eastern Airways have so far raised more than £3,000.
They will sleep at Duthie Park, joining around 1,800 others, with temperatures expected to drop to -2C.
The effort has been coordinated through Bristow’s Uplift programme which supports local communities, charities and non-profit organisations.
Matt Rhodes, director of Bristow Helicopters’ UK operations said: “With the number of homeless people living in Scotland higher than ever, it’s an issue we felt strongly about supporting this year. Through Bristow Uplift, we already support a range of local charities in Aberdeen including Grampian MS Therapy Centre and Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE).”
Last year’s event in Edinburgh raised £4m to help end homelessness.
Bristow Search & Rescue’s director Russ Torbet added: “As the temperature continues to drop in December, it’s going to be a tough night outdoors for our team, but this is the reality many face every night not just in Aberdeen, but across Scotland. I’m very proud to be part of this event, raising vital funds for such an important cause.”
