Scottish airline Loganair said yesterday it was going ahead with plans to operate two key routes from Aberdeen.
The carrier added its new services to Newcastle and Norwich – starting this autumn – would see it become Aberdeen International Airport’s largest operator, in terms of both the number of flights and destinations served.
It will operate three non-stop weekday services to Newcastle and up to three non-stop weekday flights to Norwich from September 1.
Non-stop Sunday services will also be offered on both routes.
Paisley-based Loganair will be competing for business, particularly from oil and gas workers, with Eastern Airways and franchise partner Flybe.
Loganair commercial director Kay Ryan said: “We’re confident this will be welcome news to regular travellers and businesses in the region that depend on these air services.
“The schedule is constructed to offer maximum flexibility for those businesses and the offshore oil and gas industry.”
Civil Aviation Authority figures show the current Aberdeen-Newcastle service suffered bady from delays and cancellations last year.
