Five north and north-east-based firms are on a prestigious annual list of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK.
The latest, sixth edition of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) Group 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain report features a total of 37 Scottish firms.
Among them are north and north-east companies BrewDog, Gordon & MacPhail, PDG Aviation Services, RAM Tubulars Scotland and Wester Ross Fisheries.
Publication of the 2019 report was celebrated by the opening of the London market yesterday by Treasury select committee chairwoman Nicky Morgan, LSE Group chief executive David Schwimmer and more than 40 companies featured in the 2019 report.
SMEs in the new edition have recorded 108% annual average revenue growth and collectively generated nearly 96,000 jobs over the past two years.
Hailing their contribution to the nation, Chancellor Philip Hammond said: “SMEs are the backbone of the UK economy.
“I congratulate all the companies that are included in this year’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain report.”
