The Aberdeen and Dingwall offices of Brodies played a key part in the law firm notching up record turnover during the year to April 30.
Business in the Granite City was so good that headcount grew by 16% during the period.
The firm is hurtling towards a 100-strong workforce in Aberdeen just over eight years after it established a presence in Europe’s oil and gas capital.
In Dingwall, Brodies has a three-strong team following its acquisition of Martin Mackay Solicitors to give it a foothold in the Highlands early last year.
Nick Scott, Edinburgh-based Brodies’ managing partner, said the firm’s most northerly outpost was kept busy with “a full range of work” and needing a bigger team. “There is certainly a desire for more people than we have at the moment,” he added.
Brodies’ total headcount across offices in Aberdeen, Dingwall, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Brussels increased by 6% to 689 during the 12 months to April 30. Partner numbers topped 100, including 18 in Aberdeen for the first time.
The firm reported turnover of £76.86 million for the financial year, up 12% from £68.59m previously.
Profits before partner distributions also increased, by 14% to £37.40m.
Mr Scott said Brodies had seen progress in all of its practice areas from Scottish, UK and international clients.
Brexit will bring challenges and opportunities for clients during the year ahead, he said, adding: “It is our belief that in this recognition lies the path to sustainable, profitable, growth.”
