The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) has beefed up its board as it prepares to play its part in the sector’s recovery.
Five new recruits to the boardoom team include Daniel Gear, Aberdeen-based strategic programme lead at Petrofac Engineering and Production Services.
Appointed by the Apprenticeships and Skills Minister Gillian Keegan MP, all five will work under the leadership of ECITB chairwoman Lynda Armstrong – helping to steer the organisation and champion its work as the statutory skills body for the engineering construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales.
Ms Armstrong said: “They represent the wide range of sectors and regions in which the engineering construction industry operates, and complement the diversity of talent already represented on the board.
“These appointments will greatly benefit the ECITB at what is a critical time.”
ECITB’s recently unveiled Covid-19 crisis response package includes a £4.5 million Train to Retain scheme for graduates and apprentices, a revamped scholarship and measures to boost digital training and assessment.
The board is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of ECITB’s three-year Leading Industry Learning 2020-2022 strategy, aimed at tackling the major challenges facing engineering construction companies, including skills shortages, technological transformation and the energy transition.
