Russian state-owned Gazprom has revealed plans to build its own exclusive yacht club as part of its new headquarters on the coast of St Petersburg.
The 4ha business/leisure Lakhta Center would become part of the £82million facility, which will sit on the Gulf of Finland.
The energy giant has revealed plans to develop offices, recreation and living areas, sports facilities, a hotel and even a hospital on the site, with Gazprom’s new 89 storey high headquarters building at the heart of the complex.
The original plans to build the skyscraper in the town centre have raised a wave of protests across St Petersburg, which forced the concern to move the project to the seaside.
The Lakhta Center and the yacht club are due for completion in 2018, with the building of the skyscraper commissioned to Arabtec – co-builders of the Burj Khalifa structure in Dubai.
