Aberdeen company Viking SeaTech said today it was on the brink of being snapped up by a US firm in a deal worth about £150million.
The buyer is Actuant Corporation, a diversified industrial business based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
Viking said it expected the acquisition, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions, to complete within 45 days.
The north-east firm – currently wholly owned by banking group HSBC – carries out engineering services, including mooring analysis and modelling for rig locations and moves, and recently diversified into broader asset-management work.
It employs 153 people globally, including 75 in Aberdeen, and had hauled in revenue of around £59million during the past year.
