The former general counsel at Enterprise Oil is to join Africa-focused Ophir Energy as a director.
Vivien Gibney, who brings more than 25 years legal experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, set up Enterprise’ legal department during her time at the company.
The barrister, who was awared an honorary fellowship in petroleum law from Dundee University, was most recently a director of Encore Oil.
“We are very pleased to welcome Vivien Gibney to Ophir’s board,” said chairman Nicholas Smith.
“Her extensive career within the oil industry at a corporate level will provide valuable experience as we continue to grow our business.”
The move comes as the company posted a $19.4million loss for the first half of 2013, with the company citing exploration costs and for the fall.
