French subsea cable specialist Nexans said yesterday it had won a contract worth more than £100million to supply and install a power link to upgrade electricity transmission between the Kintyre peninsula and Scottish mainland.
Nexans added the work, part of Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission’s plans to invest up to £5.15billion in its electricity network from 2013-21, would release up to 150 megawatts of extra grid capacity for renewable-energy projects.
Installation is due for 2015.
