They’ve filmed the top stars in some beautiful locations.
From Harry Potter to Pirates of the Caribbean and even James Bond megahit Skyfall, the Pinewood Group has seen them all.
But now the masterminds behind those blockbusters have descended on Stonehaven to film their latest flick, Pressure.
Nick Chopping, co-producer and stunt co-ordinator for the movie, said: “It is a pleasure to be working in Stonehaven, I’ve never been here before but it is a lovely place.
“More film crews and people in general should know about Stonehaven and what it has to offer.
“I’ve worked on many films from Johnny English, Pirates of the Caribbean to Harry Potter.
“I was actually the character Ron Weasley’s stunt double for the last three Harry Potter movies.
“If there was anything we thought might be a little too dangerous for Rupert Grint who played Ron, I would do the scene.
“I’m rather good friends with Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter.
“He read the script for this film and we hoped he would take a role but unfortunately due to time constraints he couldn’t.”
Jason Newmark, producer of Pressure, explained the plot behind the film and why Stonehaven – which was also the setting for Mel Gibson’s Hamlet in 1990 – was the perfect filming location.
“Pressure is about four deep sea divers who end up stuck in the middle of the Somali Basin off Africa, but I can’t quite reveal yet exactly why yet.
“It is a thriller movie though and we are in our fourth week of filming. We’re shooting all of the above water scenes in Stonehaven, out at sea, roughly one mile from the harbour.
“Stonehaven was just right for the film because it has a lovely bay and allows us to film safely.
“The tides are also not too strong and the local people here have been fantastic.
“We’ll be filming some scenes here and some more at the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen for a couple of days.
“The movie should be released around this time next year.”
Pressure, directed by Ron Scalpello, includes four main characters who are played by Danny Husten, Matthew Goode, Joe Cole and Alan McKenna – who also wrote the film’s script and plays a lead role.
Joe, who portrays Robbie Jones, said: “My character is a bit of a rookie diver, he is a bit overly keen and is really excited about diving.
“However, he ends up getting in a bit of trouble at sea – it is a great role to play.
“I’ve never been this far north in Scotland before but it has been a pleasure filming in Stonehaven as it is so picturesque.”
North-east businesses have also pitched in with support for the film-makers.
Keith Gaskin, 42, from Aberdeen city centre, was thrilled when he heard about the film crew heading to Stonehaven and offered them the use of his boat, which will feature in the film.
“I heard that the crew were looking for a local boat which had more of a military look to it,” said Keith, managing director of Titantorque Services LTD. “So I got in touch and said they could use my one, which is very exciting because it means it will be in some of the scenes.
“I’ve also been out on the safety boat in my diving suit while scenes have been filmed, just in case my help is needed.”
Ruari McLachlan, 29, managing director of McLachlan Marine, was approached by the film company.
Ruari, from Laurencekirk, said: “The company asked if they could use my boat for their film crew and of course I said yes.
“This is fantastic for Stonehaven and everyone has been so nice.
“Plus it is exciting – it isn’t every day you get to help a film crew, is it?”
