A group of Russian oil workers has acquired an unlikely member of their team – an orphaned baby bear.
The bear, thought to be around six months old, has been visiting the oil and gas field in the Tomsk region since last week.
After originally trying to discourage their visitor, the TomskGazpromGeofizika workers at the site have started feeding the bear rolls and pork fat from the settlement’s cafeteria.
The bear, unafraid of people, now has the freedom of the camp and drinks water from a container at the drilling site.
“It’s a bit scary, of course, he’s a wild animal after all, but seeing as he doesn’t touch anyone and basically shows no interest in people, bit by bit everybody got used to him,” a company employee told Interfax.
