An Aberdeen-based airline which has opened new routes for the oil and gas industry between Scotland and Norway has won a major European award.
BMI Regional, which reopened the route between Aberdeen and Kristiansund earlier this year, won silver airline of the year at the European Regions Airline Association event in Austria.
The operator, which is also set to operate routes from Aberdeen to Oslo and Stavanger to the northern reaches of Norway, was bought over 18 months ago to become a stand-alone operator.
“This award is especially meaningful for BMI Regional because it comes directly from our peers in the airline business,” said chief executive Cathal O’Connell.
