Aberdeen-based testing laboratory Intertek has appointed Jill Rennie to head up its new environmental consultancy team.
Ms Rennie, formerly lead environmental engineer with Wood Group PSN, is the founder of the E-Reps forum taking place in Aberdeen today.
She has joined the firm as an associate director, as Intertek looks to bring its energy services to the oil, gas and renewables industry. The new team will look to help clients reduce environmental risks throughout the lifetime of energy industry projects.
“Jill’s experience and vast knowledge will help us drive forward our consultancy services where we are experiencing an increase in demand for specialist services,” said Intertek vice president Raymond Pirie.
“There is a growing recognition that planning out environmental and regulatory risk at the front end of a project is far more cost effective than trying to fix a problem later and Intertek is well placed to support and add value to the global energy developments in this arena.”
Ms Rennie, who brings more than 12 years energy industry experience to the role, was previously with Maersk and DNV before her five-year spell at Wood Group. She is currently undertaking a PhD in marine Technology.
“There is a growing spotlight on environmental and regulatory challenges and I see a huge opportunity to grow and develop Intertek’s consultancy services in response to this,” she said.
“We have a strong team of scientists, engineers and consultants who are fully integrated to streamline the often confusing regulatory process and deliver the most innovative technical solutions.”
