A member of Statoil board of directors has been appointed a minister to the Norwegian government.
Børge Brende has been named Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and will depart Statoil with immediate effect.
Brende has held various ministerial roles in the Norwegian government, including Cabinet Minister of Environment (2001-2004) and Cabinet Minister of Trade and Industry (2004-05).
He was also a member of the Norwegian Parliament between 1997-2007, the last period as Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Energy and Environment.
