Orion Group has opened its first South American office in Rio de Janeiro.
Headed up by chief operating officer Gary Benson, the office will be of integral importance to Orion Group’s operations in the region, the firm said.
The markets of the Americas are worth a considerable amount to the company, with offices in the region contributing significantly to Orion Group’s worldwide turnover of £355million and surging annual profits of £7.47million, which were announced earlier this month.
“We feel extremely positive about the region and opening the Brazilian office is a significant milestone,” Mr Benson said.
“The importance of the South American market cannot be understated.
“We are looking forward to progressing with some exciting opportunities here and are confident we have a great team in place. Brazil is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and we’ll be there to ensure there is a pool of highly skilled personnel to help sustain this growth.”
Orion Group chairman, Alan Savage, added: “It is an exciting time for Orion Group. There are a number of projects in Brazil at the moment and we’re pleased to be able to do our part in supporting these.
“I am in no doubt that the office will go from strength to strength.”
Based in Inverness, the group employs 401 staff across 36 worldwide offices.
