US company Teledyne Technologies has bought Aberdeen-based subsea engineering firm CDL for an undisclosed sum.
California-based Teledyne specialises in sophisticated instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, electronics and engineered systems for a variety of markets.
CDL employs about 40 people from headquarters at Bridge of Don and has overseas sites in the US, Brazil and Singapore.
Colin Crichton was the Aberdeen firm’s chief executive and held the biggest stake before the Teledyne deal.
Andy Doggett, who was managing director, said he and Mr Chricton were both staying on but in new roles.
“This has given us a platform to grow the business,” he said, adding: “The ambition going forward is to increase the workforce.”
Teledyne chairman, president and chief executive Robert Mehrabian said: “The addition of CDL to our marine instrumentation portfolio provides an exciting opportunity to deliver integrated systems and solutions.”
